On the Rocks

One place that really fascinates me is Clingstone, an unusual, 103-year-old mansion in Rhode Island's Narragansett Bay. This is the only building on this miniature island. It was built in 1905 and was almost destroyed in 1940.
Henry Wood, a 79-year-old Boston architect, bought the house with his ex-wife Joan in 1961 only for $3,600 (probably because of its poor condition and the fact that the house was empty for more than two decades). With much effort from the the Wood family and their friends, house is now fully recovered and in great condition.

The home consists of a central large room and 23 rooms. Interior, furniture and furnishings are chosen with much style and natural materials predominate. It became a cozy and charming place to live close to nature. 10 bedrooms have large windows and stunning panoramic views. The house is "green", using only wind and wood for the fireplace.

I must admit that old buildings impress me much more than modern architecture. I would like someday to find a nice old house in which to fall in love at first sight. Then I'll buy it, restore it and breathe life back into it.  And so we will begin to live happily together. My house is somewhere there waiting for me only to find her. Ehh... someday...
